

Dr Carly Jones MBE FRSA is a trailblazing independent advocate , advisor and leader who has dedicated her career to improving the lives of autistic individuals since 2008 . Hailing from a teenaged mother and baby homeless hostel in Bracknell , England . After having two of her own daughters diagnosed as autistic and only being diagnosed Autistic herself in adulthood , Carly turned her focus to developing expertise in gender equality in autism.
Carly’s own struggles with navigating the educational , employment , health systems and staying safe as a young undiagnosed autistic female fuelled her passion for driving advantageous awareness and impactful change for the next generations .
She has in those 2 decades become a distinctive and influential voice, making an enormous contribution to increasing the visibility and safeguarding of autistic people through her books, media , and tireless advocacy and policy work.
In 2014, Carly made history as the first British autistic woman to address the United Nations on autistic women’s rights. She has continued to represent the UK at the UN’s CEDAW committee, providing crucial input on autism and disability rights.
Carly’s impact extends far beyond her advocacy awareness efforts. She has served in high-profile professional roles such Chair of Aviation and Maritime DPTAC working groups for the Department for Transport, Co-Production Lead for NHS England LDA , Lead of Hidden Disabilities group for Baroness Tani Grey – Thompsons Aviation Accessibility Task and Finish Group 2024-2025 , bid consortium partner and Chair of the Executive Steering Group overseeing the pilot Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training in Learning Disability and Autism, (2020-2022) and acts as an Independent Panel Member for the Ministry of Justice (2019) working hard to recruit for some of the UKs most senior public appointments such as the Parole Board, Youth Justice Board and Northern Ireland Prison executives .
Since 2018 Carly has had the privilege to be a committee member for His Majesty the Kings Cabinet Office Honours System for both CVS efforts and international efforts at the Foreign Office .
Additionally, Carly has contributed as a participant and reviewer for the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST) note on Autism, which informs both the House of Lords and House of Commons. Her policy work has also been published by the UN Office of Human Rights , The Department for Education (2019) and the UK Parliament. Carly is a guest lecturer for some of Englands most prestigious universities such as Cambridge, Oxford , Sheffield Hallam, Warwick and Bath Spa .In addition Carly has advised the BBC , JP Morgan , Deutsche Bank , Howdens, The Home Office , Heathrow Airport, East Midlands Rail , Great British Rail ,Motability and the Cabinet Office to name a few.
International efforts include using her lived experience of homelessness to train homeless shelters throughout the width and breadth of America on safeguarding and understanding Autism and homelessness (2024) Being invited as a member of Australian Autistic Masterclass global speakers , training that went on to impact Australian Neurodiversity efforts ( 2023) and working on aviation accessibility for world wide airport designs (2025)
Recognised for her exceptional commitment , Carly has been awarded an MBE (2017) invited to become a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (2019) , named one of the top 100 U.K. female entrepreneurs at the House of Lords by Small Business Britain #iAlso list (2020) and proudly received an Honorary Doctorate of Science from Sheffield Hallam University (2022) .
Her unwavering determination to creating a more inclusive and equitable world for autistic people continues to inspire and drive positive change in education, business , the third , private , public sector , policy , healthcare, national recognition , employment, the justice system , global financial , technology sectors , Aviation, Rail , Maritime and safeguarding.
She gifted her book published globally by JKP publishing (2021) βSafeguarding Autistic Girls , Strategies for Professionals β to each police and crime commissioner in England , Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland during 2022 in a bid to ensure Autistic girls in the judicial system either as a victim, witness or defendant were treated with respect , accessibility and were correctly understood in communications .
In her β Spare time β Carly spends her weekends with her family supporting national C.I.Cs and charities ,hosting events for other families of Autistic loved ones such as βAutism in Racing β National horse racing charity , βDogs for Autism β a National assistance dog charity , βEvery Little Thing Festival β a charity supporting families who have lost an Autistic loved one to suicide, and more voluntary aims .
